Background

PULSAR, a Université Laval initiative, is committed to protecting the personal information and privacy of the members of its community. We therefore ask that you carefully read these privacy rules as they pertain to the PULSAR Web platform.

All personal information entrusted to PULSAR will be handled and protected in accordance with Université Laval’s information security policy and the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information. The relationship between you and PULSAR is governed by Québec and Canadian legislation in force in Québec. 

Notice of collection of personal information

The personal information collected as well as the information that will later be recorded in your member file is confidential. This information is needed for PULSAR to fulfil its mission of helping improve the health and well-being of individuals and the population.

Information is collected on a voluntary basis and with the informed consent of members. In accordance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, you can access your file through the PULSAR Web platform or by sending a request to pulsar@ulaval.ca. You may also correct any incorrect information that may be in your file. Before exercising your rights under this act, you may send a written request to access or correct your personal information to the Université Laval privacy officer at demande.acces@sg.ulaval.ca

Consent

By completing any form in PULSAR, you consent that the personal information provided in these forms may be used by PULSAR or in research projects conducted with PULSAR and retained for the time required to achieve the purposes for which the information was requested.

PULSAR undertakes to use the personal information provided solely for the purposes for which it was collected and to retain it for as long as needed to complete the research projects.

Access to personal information by PULSAR

Only authorized PULSAR personnel may have access to your personal information. PULSAR staff and research project teams sign legal confidentiality agreements before they can access the personal information requested and required as part of their duties in the project. Your data is always used in accordance with the ethical and privacy rules in force in Québec and Canada.

Retention and destruction of information by PULSAR

PULSAR may retain your personal information for as long as you are a PULSAR member. If, when closing your PULSAR account, you would like all your data to be destroyed, you must submit a request to that effect to pulsar@ulaval.ca.

Security of personal information

All personal information and other information entrusted to PULSAR is stored in secure information assets held, managed, and installed in the Université Laval technological environment. The facilities are protected by strict physical and computer security measures based on current industry standards.

Use of cookies

When you access PULSAR, there is a transparent exchange of information between your electronic device and the servers on our Web platform servers. PULSAR uses Google Analytics to analyze visitor interactions on our Web platform. 

This tool installs cookies on your electronic device. Cookies are text files that make it possible to analyze information on how users browse a website. The data the cookies generate about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
